Get Golf Ready Program
Picton Golf & Country Club offers a fun and affordable golf instruction program for people with little or no golf experience.
Get Golf Ready, intended to bring new golfers into the game in a fast, fun and affordable way, offers a series of 4 introductory lessons, taught by teaching Pro Robert Keyes and a 5th "on course" mentoring session. Lessons are in a small-group environment and offered for an affordable price of $120 (+hst).
The Get Golf Ready Program concentrates on basic skills, instruction and information on the game’s rules, etiquette and values. Overall, participants will gain insight into techniques regarding chipping and putting, full swing and bunker play as well as the fundamental guidelines of use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course.
2021 Get Golf Ready Program Details
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety protocols, the GGR class size will be a maximum of four participants. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Sessions may be cancelled or combined if minimum enrolment of 3 participants is not met.

Saturday Mornings: May 29, June 5, 12 & 19
Session #1: 9:00 am to 10:00 am (SESSION FULL)
Session #2: 10:15 am - 11:15 am (SESSION FULL)
Wednesday Evenings: June 2, 9, 16 & 23
Session #3: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm (SESSION FULL)
Session #4: 7:15 pm - 8:15 pm (SESSION FULL)
Final Lesson: Wednesday June 30 (for all participants) 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The Program wraps up with a fun Scramble on the Back 9. Participants will be joined by special member mentors who will offer insider knowledge of the course and offer tips and etiquette on playing the game from tee to green.The evening includes a special take-away BBQ for all participants as they head out on the course.
PLEASE NOTE: SESSION DATES MAY BE ADJUSTED BASED WHEN THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT ALLOWS GOLF COURSES TO OPEN. PARTICIPANTS WILL BE CONTACTED SHOULD SESSION DATES CHANGE.
Lessons will alternate between the Driving Range Facility at 1041 Hwy 49 (just north of the golf club), the Steven Ward Short Game Practice Facility at the golf club and "on-course" at the golf club. The first two lessons will take place at the Driving Range. The third and fourth lessons will take place at the Short Game Practice Facility at the golf club. The 5th and final lesson will be on the course at Picton Golf & Country Club.
If you don’t have your own clubs yet, don’t worry – all equipment will be supplied.
Following completion of The Get Golf Ready lessons, you will be encouraged to participate in “graduate outings”, where you can team up with select member mentors to enjoy a round of golf and continue your learning in a fun, friendly way. Special green fees will be offered for this phase of The Get Golf Ready Program.
