Closing Events

The Men’s Closing Day, held last Saturday, went well, most of the groups were in before the rain and for the first time in many years Russ Gilchrist’s group did not win the net prize. There are rumours he may be making changes to his team… Congratulations to everyone who played, it was a fun day followed by a great meal. Next year we hope to have an even better tournament.

Russ "Hanson" Gilcrist comes prepared for full contact golf
at the Men's Closing last Saturday.

Women's Closing Day will be held tomorrow, Saturday Sept 24. The women will enjoy a 9 hole scramble followed by lunch and their annual general meeting and election. Awards will be given out and next year's executive will be elected.

The Members' Closing Tournament will be held Sunday October 16th, 12 noon shotgun. This fun event includes an 18 hole 4 person "Shamble" format,  followed by dinner and prizes, as well as recognition of all the award winners over the season. Golf is open to all members and staff. Spouses and partners are welcome to join us for the awards dinner. It’s one event you don’t want to miss. Sign up and pay at the Pro Shop. Deadline is Sunday October 9th. For more details click here.

We are looking for nominations for candidates for the Sterling Johnston Builder's Award.  This trophy is awarded to a member of the Picton Golf and Country Club who has made a significant contribution to the growth, development and reputation of the club: a person who has given back to this club through their actions and selflessness. It recognizes those who have helped to build this club into something we are proud to call ‘our club’.

This is not intended to be an annual award, but rather an award given out when someone truly special is deserving of the recognition. This is a great opportunity for you to help us recognize a member who through their efforts and dedication have made the Picton Golf and Country Club what it is today.

Please send nominations to  Previous winners of the award are Donna Walby, Karen Insley, Myrna & Bill Kidnew & David MacKay.
