The AGM is on Tuesday November 1st
Why you should be there....

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is this coming Tuesday, Nov 1st. Registration begins at 6:30pm, the meeting commences at 7:00pm. As a member-directed club, it’s important that we have as many of you as can possibly make it attend.

Although we at the Picton Golf and Country Club have made some strides in the past few years, the golf industry in general is in poor shape. As you read this e blast, Canada’s largest golf retailer, Golf Town, is emerging from bankruptcy and is preparing to close many of its stores. Golf courses and clubs have been sold or are in the planning stages of redevelopment away from the game. Even the iconic Glen Abbey course in Oakville, site of many Canadian Open Championships is not immune from this alarming trend and is in the process of becoming a housing tract, with no golf course planned on the site.

Next year we will be celebrating our 110th anniversary as the County’s preferred golf destination and one of the oldest golf clubs in Canada. As avid enthusiasts of the game, it is our responsibility as its current custodians, to keep this grand old club not only in existence but to actively work to ensure that it thrives for future generations of County golfers.

All of us as members have a stake in this venerable institution. The AGM is your chance to see the business side of the club. On Nov 1st, you will have the opportunity to not only review the financial statements of the club and read the board reports for the year but you will also have a chance to share your comments and opinions on the current state and future direction of the club. In addition, you will select the new board members who will run the day-to-day operations of the club on your behalf.

We know that if you are reading this that you care about our club. So please take the time and join us on November 1st to keep informed on issues that pertain to the Picton Golf & Country Club as we navigate a difficult time for the golfing industry. Make sure your voice is heard as we continue our second century of Fun, Friendly, Great Golf.

Only a few regular Friday E-blasts are left for this year. Watch your inbox in November for our year end survey. Please take the opportunity to complete the survey and send us your feed back. We will stay in touch on a less frequent basis during the winter months but will continue to share information and keep you up to date.  As always, please send us your thoughts and concerns to board@pictongolf.ca . Don't forget to visit our website often. It is your best source for information.

We finish this week's e-Blast with a final "Straight Ahead" article from Robert Keyes. We hope that you have enjoyed Robert's contributions this season. We hope that you join with us in thanking Robert for being part of our Picton Golf & Country Club Family".
