Picton Golf & Country Club Update
Picton Team wins Quinte Cup
The Quinte cup is one of Canadas longest running golf trophy events, awarded since the early 1920s. The cup is contested between four clubs, Picton, Napanee, Roundel Glen and Trenton, each club taking turns hosting the event. The competition is match play. Teams play a series of nine hole matches against each other with points awarded for wins and ties.
Our Quinte Cup team members for 2016 are Paul Gentile, Carl Stacey, Peter Cole, Larry Powell, John Haynes, Don Van Es, Dave Hoekstra, Al MacDonald and Don Rodney.
This year, the result was extremely close. Picton won with 38 points, Roundel was very close behind with 36 points and Napanee, third with 30 points. The matches came down to the last putt on the last hole when John Haynes closed out the final match of the day.
It was a team success with every member contributing points to the team score. John Haynes and Larry Powell claimed victory in all of their matches, Dave Hoekstra and Peter Cole were undefeated in theirs.
The Quinte cup is on display in the Pro Shop, drop by and see this very impressive trophy.
Congratulations again to our team for their superlative effort in representing our club.
Father’s Day Weekend
It’s that time again, the busiest weekend of the year and when golf truly means family. We hope we see many father/son/daughter groups this weekend out on the course.
If you are planning a last minute Father’s Day gift, why not shop at our pro shop? If Dad’s not a member, a five pack of green fees makes a perfect gift and will allow for more family time on the course. We also have plenty of fine golfing merchandise that will suit Dad to a tee.
To see our pro shop specials, click here. Remember, our pricing compares favorably to big box golf stores. As a member you also enjoy a 15% discount on almost all regularly priced items and you help the club by purchasing your golf needs at the pro shop.

The Picton Golf and Country Club is a protected habitat for a number of wild animals. The grounds are home to many species that allow us to enjoy the pleasures of viewing nature as we engage in our preferred pastime.
It appears that we have a nesting pair of swans residing at the pond that divides holes 7 & 8. Please note that swans are territorial and fiercely protective of their young. The cygnets will stay close to their parents, take pictures if you like but respect their space.
There are also Blanding’s turtles near the pond on 13. These are a threatened species and hopefully they will thrive on our course. We also have a healthy family of foxes. Please remember these are wild animals, so resist the urge to feed them and keep a safe distance.
Happy golfing everyone and enjoy the wildlife as you wind your way around the course
