The first of the six new holes on the front nine offers a generous landing area off the tee, with the right side of the fairway preferred in order to avoid playing the approach shot over a small stand of shagbark hickories on the left edge of the fairway, 80 yards out from the green. The elevated green is tight and requires precise iron shots to avoid problems with the trees closely surrounding the green on three sides.
